“UNRWA students in Homs excel in mental arithmetic Whiz.” Eleven Palestine refugee talented students at the Agencys al-Ramleh Girls school in Homs outperformed in the global RH.MAS virtual competition hosted by the Creative Learning Academy on 11 September 2021. Some 975 students from all over the world including Syria participated in the competition. Of the eleven UNRWA participant students from Homs camp, seven ranked first, three ranked the second and 8th grader Hala Shalabi won the championship. The talented students, who received training in mental math by their mathematics teacher Hala Mando, can add and subtract numbers in a matter of seconds and solve a diverse range of mathematical questions with speed and accuracy. © 2021 UNRWA Photo
